Restaurant Server Application Prototype

This project involved designing and developing a prototype for a mobile application intended for restaurant servers. The app replaces the traditional pen-and-paper method for taking orders, allowing servers to efficiently record customer orders, calculate the total cost of a meal, and relay this information to the kitchen and the cash register. The goal was to create a user-friendly and intuitive interface using HTML, Bootstrap, and JavaScript.

The application enables servers to register the dishes requested by each table, easily view any allergens or other important information about each dish, and add special instructions for each order. A key feature of the app is the ability to generate a receipt that lists the price of each item separately, as well as the total cost for the entire table.

This project placed a strong emphasis on usability, ensuring that the app is simple to use without the need for extensive training. The interface was designed to be responsive, making it accessible on various mobile devices. The project also required a thorough understanding of mobile design principles and the ability to justify design decisions with references to literature and best practices in the field.

Additional points were awarded for creating an intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and responsive design. The final deliverable included not only the working prototype but also detailed documentation that explained the design process, the principles used, and how the app was implemented. The menu used in the app was based on a typical pizzeria menu, providing a realistic scenario for testing and demonstrating the app's functionality.
